CHILDREN OF TURKEY

In Turkey about 30 percent (25 million) of the population are children.

Turkey, a candidate country for EU membership needs to cover much distance to provide a good
enough education standard for its children, to parallel the standards in developed EU countries.

Turkey despite its growing awareness of the vitality of education in carrying up a nation to the
advanced level of most developed countries in the world, has failed to take necessary steps in
this regard, for a long while.

Turkey has not managed to pay enough attention or focus on this basic issue…

In the year 2012 the government is still working on the issue to decide which way to go and
which reforms to put into application.

Besides the "confusion" in national education system, the parents are not educated good enough
either, to provide the children with a basic (family) education to prepare them for the education
at school to follow and life, in specific.

However, Turkish children are truly clever and skillful and when given the opportunity to compete
they are really successful.
